Studio+ Program
It’s everything you’re looking for. Expert studio-based training and a full-length play.
This course will be held on MONDAY EVENINGS at 505 Pitt Street.
The ACTT Studio+ Program is specifically designed for students who have completed the Professional Actor Program, the CORE or Music Theatre at ACTT or equivalent courses elsewhere. It is a great way for actors and performers to explore deeper emotional, physical and vocal connections to their performance. The course provides an extended period of instrument work covering acting, voice and movement training and culminates in the production of a play.
This course will be taught by some of ACTTs leading tutors including Sean O’Riordan (Acting, Impulse & Imagination, Direction), Jill Brown (Voice Training & Applied Accents), Kate Hankin (Actor Connection & Instrument Techniques) and Fiona Malone (Movement & Physicality). Additional masterclasses may be taken by other tutors. In total, Studio+ offers students the perfect opportunity to refresh their knowledge, pick up new techniques and practice their skills in applied craft and deep instrument-work. If you are interested please complete the form below and come along to our Studio+ Information Session at 9.45am on Saturday 3rd March in ACTT’s main campus: 505 Pitt Street, Sydney.
Module 1: MASTERCLASS SERIES 12 March – 30 April
This is the Masterclass Term. Students will work with specialists in their field who will take them through an intense class focusing on defined areas of performance – voice, movement, impulse/imagination and actor connection work. The work will be intense, challenging, fun and rewarding and will give the student a deeper insight into skills and techniques in each of the specialist areas.
Module 2: CLASSIC THEATRE SCENES 14 May – 2 July
This is the Classic Theatre term where students will work together on a scene from one of the masters of the classic theatre – including Ibsen, Chekhov, Tennessee Williams and other writers from the world of classic Realism. At the end of the term there will be an informal presentation of the scenes to an invited audience.
Module 3: AMERICAN ACCENTS & MONOLOGUES 23 July – 10 September
This term is all about the American accent and monologue work. Students will work on mastering an American accent and prepare an American monologue for presentation in a mock audition. They will be given advice and take part in exercises to gain audition experience. They will also work on an American scene for an in-class presentation (which may include an invited audience).
Module 4: REHEARSE & PERFORM FULL-LENGTH PLAY 1 October – 3 December
(Note: this is an extended-length term)
This is the play term. Students will be cast and then rehearse a full length play over a number of weeks for presentation in the final weeks of the term, this will involve use of applied instrument and craft techniques. The experience and knowledge gained through their work in the course should enable students to reach new heights and take greater risks in creating the character and relationships in the play and experience fully the world of their scene.
