Professional Actor Program
Find Out How To Apply Here
It’s not too late. Applications are in the final stages so if you have already prepared your best audition pieces, why not dust them off and call 02 9213 4500 to see if you can use them in your auditions? Don’t give up on your dreams.
1st Year: Instrument Preparation
As an actor you have one instrument – YOU – learn to keep it tuned and perform with it well and you will never look back. Just like ACTT graduate Firass Dirani (pictured in Underbelly: The Golden Mile) you will benefit from a full years' studio-based training, using the same Eric Morris system as Johnny Depp and Jack Nicholson, to get yourself emotionally, mentally and physically primed to be the best actor you can be.2nd Year: Performance & Craft Training
The Instrument work you have carried out will ensure you deliver performances full of energy and passion without fear or hesitation. You are now ready to immerse yourself in your ‘Craft’. You will continue to develop your skills (and increase employment options in a highly-competitive market) through in-depth screen training and by stretching yourself in new ways of stagecraft in what will be a ‘production-heavy’ year.
3rd Year – Professional Practice
This year is the most intense, enjoyable and exciting year of your training. Throughout the year you will learn how to audition successfully for Stage and Screen jobs that come up and gain an insight into working in ‘the Industry’. Professionally, you will work with visiting professional Directors on a range of stage and screen projects, as you continue your rigourous acting, voice and movement training. We believe we have created the finest professional actor training available in Australia but to get an idea of the standard you could also achieve with us, have a look at these clips of our final year students on film. We think the quality speaks for itself!Trailer Video 2011 Industry Show Reel

4th Year – BA Degree in Stage and Screen Acting
Graduates of the ACTT Advanced Diploma of Arts in Stage and Screen Acting have a guaranteed articulation into a one year BA (Stage and Screen Acting) degree at the University of New England. ACTT is the only independent performing arts college to have a formal articulation agreement from a vocational acting course to degree. This is a new degree developed by UNE in consultation with ACTT and entry is only open to ACTT graduates.
Why Choose The Professional Actor Program?
There are many reasons to take the Professional Actor Program at ACTT. If acting is your passion and you also want a University degree, we offer you a way to achieve both. Anyone with talent and determination to succeed is encouraged to apply, and whilst auditions can be competitive, at ACTT if you come for audition you will received expert, personalised feedback from senior Directors – which is a rewarding and unique experience in itself. You can also download guidelines and recommended pieces from the bottom of this page. However we want to see you at your very best so if you have already prepared monologues you are happy with we will accept Audition Pieces from all major institutions as long as you confirm them with us in advance.
The Application Process
The entry for the professional Actor Program is by audition and applications are encouraged. Whilst the process is competitive at ACTT we take the time to create a rewarding experience for all. Unlike some other institutions which get applicants in large groups to audition in front of a group and without individual feedback to help them improve, at ACTT we give EVERY APPLICANT private auditions, with personalised attention and considered feedback.
